Big4 Auditor Changes week ending 28 Feb 2016

PwC walked away as Marvell Technology auditor back in October. Apparently, Marvell felt there was something to prove as evidenced by the rigorous selection process followed in choosing a new auditor. Marvell really wanted to find a firm that could audit, “a company with our size and complexity.” Among things considered by Marvell were a firm’s, “commitment to high standards of independence,” and, “the strength of the firm’s national office.” Very important, to be sure, but any stated superiority by a firm in these areas is pure salesmanship. Each of the Big4 firms is committed to independence in a serious way, and they all have solid national offices. Deloitte, according to Marvell, best meets the company’s requirements, so they are the winner. Let’s hope they can live up to Marvell’s expectations.
